Ken Greene, one of our longest serving members and an integral part of our committee, as Members secretary and training co-ordinator. Ken has been involved with Abbey104 right from the beginning and often seen at all outside broadcasts controlling the show. Entertainer par excellence!
Left Bargoed in South Wales in 1978 to join Royal Navy, posted to Rnas Yeovilton where I met local girl, and married her.
Now 30 plus years of Marriage later, and with two children both grown up through local schools in Sherborne where we have lived for last 27 years.
Been a musician as long as I can remember first playing in my dad's Country band, then in local bands around Dorset/Somerset.
Also Chairman of Abbey 104 and very proud of what we have all achieved here for Sherborne, through all the volunteer work of our members.
I just love RADIO! What a multitude of roles it can play, from informer to confidant; conversationalist to correspondent; informer to storyteller and so many, many more.
My love of radio started at a young age listening to stories, Junior Choice and the ‘Archers’! Ever since all forms of radio programmes have accompanied me through my life.
Even though my first time inside a radio studio was in August 2011, I still feel a novice in presenting terms as there is always much to learn. I have always had an eclectic taste in music and this is reflected in the range of music new and old you will hear on ‘Ramblings and Music.’
Current favourite oldie: David Bowie ‘Sound and Vision’. Current favourite newish band, still in love with Bear’s Den, but could have an affair with James Blake!
